The Go-To Gift Guide for the Busy Mom

Updated: Dec 13, 2019

The Holiday season is upon us (and it came fast)! Here at Thrive, we have compiled a list of a few of our favorite things that help make a mom's life a little bit easier.

Whether you are looking for that special gift for the mom in your life, or you are the mom in your life and want to find a gift for yourself, this is the list for you! Mamas are strong, hard working, and deserving of some love and appreciation.

Car Wash & Detail

Above is a real life picture of Dr. Allison's car. She is a hard working mama, busy with running a business and raising two, adorable tiny humans. As adorable as tiny humans are, they tend to make tiny messes that grow into larger messes. We know you moms can relate. It's not that you don't want a clean car, it's just difficult to squeeze it into your already full calendar.

As moms, you wake up at the crack of dawn making sure those tiny humans are fed, dressed, carted off to school, and all the after school activities. You barley have time to squeeze in a moment for yourself. We know that a mom's time is SO valuable and that you'd rather be making memories with your family than cleaning out your car.

So this Christmas, why not give the gift of a car wash and detail. This takes one little stress off mom, so she can continue being the rock star she is. If you live in the Tacoma area this business does an amazing job for a fantastic price!

"Girl, Wash Your Face" by Rachel Hollis

This book is great for the mom who needs to be reminded that they can be both a career women and a mom. Rachel Hollis helps the reader to focus on their goals and provides them with all the tools they will need. She is also so authentic, real, and funny!

Review : "I was skeptical of all of the hype that this book had received. My sister in-law recommended it and I trust her so much! I found this book to be exactly the permission I needed to be a mom AND a business person. I listened to the book and found it so motivating; a great way to start my day!" - Dr. Allison

"Cook Once Eat All Week" by Cassy Joy Garcia, NC

This cookbook is designed to help with meal planning and meal prepping! It offers easy ingredient swaps to make the recipes fit with your lifestyle (gluten free, dairy free, low carb, etc) and what your family loves to eat. She does a great job of teaching you to think through meal planning and after working through the cookbook, you will likely feel more confident meal planning and prepping on your own! And the recipes are very delicious and kid friendly.

Review: "I love flipping through this cookbook for recipe ideas for the week. The instructions are easy to follow and everything I've made has been a hit at my house so far! My husband and I have enjoyed trying out using ingredients in a new way. We definitely got some "go-to" recipes from this book that we love and are so easy!" - Dr. Emma

"32 Degrees Ladies' Heat Tee" & "Carole Hochman Ladies' Lounge Sock"

Having your favorite comfy clothes during this time of year helps to ease the dreariness of winter and the Washington weather. This amazing under shirt and the coziest socks ever can be found at Costco. The undershirt is super lightweight and you get 2 in a pack for $12.00. The socks are very soft and warm, like having your feet by the fireplace, and they come in a pack of 4 for $9.99! These items are great for the mom on-the-go or the mom who wants to relax with a good book and glass of wine.

Review: "When I take my dog out in the morning for our freezing morning stroll this undershirt keeps me warm without feeling like I'm carrying an extra 40 pounds of fabric. I simply wear it under a light weight jacket and I'm good to go. The socks I wear constantly because they are super cozy!" - Rachel

Meal Delivery (DIY or "Sun Basket")

Let's set the scene: it's Friday night you have had the longest week, but you are feeling ambitious and want to make a healthy, organic salmon meal. You have the recipe, you have the salmon, but you are missing 3 ingredients. So it's either a trip to the store or ordering a pizza. Sound familiar? This happens to us all. One solution is the gift the mom in your life a few homemade freezer meals or to order her a subscription to a meal delivery service! Sun Basket offers organic and paleo food choices.

Treat the busy mom in your life the gift of not having to cook.

We hope this helped to inspire you to show your mama (or yourself) a little lovin' for all the hard work they put in. If you have other great gift ideas, comment below if you have an awesome gift idea or anything to add!
